“ These guys are seriously five out of five stars. My service level was exceptional. I went in for kibbee meat for nayyeh (traditionally eaten raw). The extremely friendly butcher behind the counter actually didn't know what that was, which greatly surprised me. After explaining to him that I take eye of round and lamb and thrice grind it, he grinned, said "well, now I know, thanks!" and immediately grabbed this absolutely stunning little hunk of eye of round and a small piece of gorgeous lamb and off he went. While he was gone, several of the other guys in the shop engaged me and the other patrons in fun small talk, atmosphere was very convivial and one of my favorite parts about my butcher shop back in NY. The shop couldn't be cuter and had a great selection of items I do sometimes struggle to easily source in the DMV, like beautiful caviars. The wines they had there (those that I'd had) were all very easily recommendable. But I have to say, the quality of the meats and the service I was given alone merit a greater than five star review, notwithstanding how wonderful their shop and extras were. The quality of my nayyeh was amazing. And honestly, pricing was super reasonable for the service and quality. One hundred percent recommend. Don't you dare go to your local supermarket - stop here and patronize these guys. You won't regret it. ”
“ This place is still the best butcher around, and for a reason. It has by far the best quality meats in all of the DC area, and I've been to all the Whole Foods and other butchers around. The ribeyes, filets, and much more... One thing I love about this place is the uniqueness of the guts. You can get hanger steak, Wagyu, Denver, steak, fresh from the farm lamb tenderloin, fresh from the ranch pork chops that taste completely different... I really appreciate the customer service here as well , the guys are always very friendly and in a good mood . The other important thing here is that you can get very fresh fish, from Icelandic Arctic char to the best tasting Samaan around. ”
“ What is not to like about this place?! The people that work there are great and the quality of their meats far exceeds your typical grocery store meats. I had ordered through their website (which was super simple to do) for pickup and everything went smoothly. I got a pound of lamb rib chops, applewood bacon, and ground bison, and all looked and tasted amazing cooked. Also, I should mention that I am NOT a lamb person, my husband is though, because it's always gamey to me when I've tried it at restaurants but these were so good. There was no gaminess at all and I enjoyed every bite of them, which I was shocked. In terms of pricing, it was a little pricy but it was worth it. Highly recommend The Organic Butcher! ”
“ This place is simply top notch; from their service to their recommendations and finally, their products. Is it expensive? Meh. Worth it? Absolutely. One of my oldest and dearest friends lives in McLean, and I have gifted her certificates for this shop more than once. I recently ordered her a gift card that never made it, and Carson helped me locate "the error." Turns out, it was my misspelling her email address for delivery. User error is the story of my life ;) One of my very best friends needs comforting from me, but I am 3,000mi away (in CA), and these guys are not. To those who work for this shop: Thank you for helping my friend select some delicious treats that will help make adulting right now that much easier. You have my loyalty. Michele ”
“ We have been here twice so far, and it's always been amazing. This weekend we ordered pork chops and a turkey breast to smoke. Wow, you can taste the quality of the meat. The pork was nice and juicy. I was impressed by the turkey too! Everything we have purchased here has been amazing. ”
“ First time here. What a great spot! You need to know you're going to pay for these high end products, but honestly I think it's worth the extra money to get such high quality products. They really had everything you need: meat, poultry, fish, fresh bread, cheese, wine, etc. Place was really busy, but they did such a great job getting people in and what they needed. Also, even as busy as they were they were so nice and helpful in the process. 100% recommend this place and I look forward to this being my new stop to get meat/poultry/fish. ”
“ Really hidden gem here in the area if you want a legit butcher shop with rare finds and quality meats and seafood etc. The storefront ambiance is small and it is pretty packed some times with lot of people waiting in line - they do usually have 3-4 butchers helping customers though and they can pretty much cut meats any way you want which is fantastic. The wagyu A5 is fantastic and we had it a few times and never disappoint- it is bit pricey though so we don't have it that often. Really like the autumn olive pork there and the steak there as well. Only slight con is the parking is literally right by the road so you really need to be extra careful backing out, especially during busy hours. ”
“ I stopped by today as I heard good things about this place. I was particularly interested in their grass fed/grass finished cuts. Nick was very helpful walking me through their selection. He mentioned they even carry all sorts of organs. Overall, I was pretty satisfied. I tried their ribeye steak. The meat was very high quality. I will definitely be back! ”
“ I called in advance to ask if they had bone-in lamb shoulder and the price. They asked when I needed it and offered to take my order. I said I'd call back. I called the Thursday before the Saturday I intended to on pick it up. They took my name and number. On Saturday, I picked it up, paid, and was on my way! The place is cute. It's small but has a lot of items. Clearly ingredients you may have forgotten were plentiful. People came and went in a steady stream. Hard to get a photo of the meat- too many folks in front. Parking was easy - right in front. Now the hard part... cooking the lamb! ”
“ Conversation: Me: "Nick, I need "steamah's". Nick: "no problem. I got a clam guy near Falmouth". Thanks to @ORGANICBUTCHER of McLean we just recreated the perfect New England treat. Steamed soft shell clams, full belly clams! In NoVA no less. This is the wonder here. Steaks so good I'm nervous that I'm not qualified enough to prepare them. Fish so fresh you wouldn't know they sell fish. And the hidden gem, or as I found out not so hidden, house made sausages that had casings that just popped at the first bite. Heading back t for the meats for "Sunday Sauce". "Favorite" these folks in your culinary file. ”
